This day I am just travelling around. I did a reservation the evening before, because I want to travel fast by an ICE train to Brussels. It was a good idea, because this train was also overloaded. In Brussels I notice, that I got the wrong information by the Deutsche Bahn infopoint. Also the interrail app has thos wrong timetable. I want to go to Tournai and the real timetable is different to the interrail app. It doesn´t matter, I still arrive Tournai and it seems, that its a nice city, but sadly I had no time to stay there. I take the next train to Lille. This trainstation is bigger as the trainstation in Tournai and I don´t see, how this city looks like. On this station there are a few armed soldiers, I guess because of the situation about the refugees. So I take the next train to Calais. I am walking from the trainstation through the city to the harbour, because I want to take a ferry to Dover. Calais is a small and a normal city but with beautiful buildings.
The next check in to the ferry is in 10 minutes, so I am really lucky that I do not have to wait. I find a wifi spot there and I decide to book a hotel in Canterbury. I don´t know why I chose this so spontaneous, but the name of the city sounds nice.
Lots of people on the ferry, but it has a nice atmosphere, I like it. Suddenly all the people start to move to take a look on the white cliffs. What an amazing view. In my opinion everyone should travel to dover by ferry, it is so beautiful. I am happy that I didn´t take the expensive train from Paris to London, of course its faster but not that beautiful.
I am walking through the city of Dover to the trainstation for around 25 minutes. Dover is not so nice but it has a wonderful castle on the cliff, sadly I didn´t visit it, cause I already booked in Canterbury. So I take the train to Canterbury. Oh what a fantastic choice to stop there. It is a lovely medieval looking city. I fall in love with it. I am walking to the Pilgrim Guest house. Its a lovely nice little hotel with a wonderful restaurant. The cottage pie is delicious and then I go to bed.
